Career Day!

The preschool classroom had loads of fun on Career Day! We were introduced to many different professions such as a lawyer, a geographer, a doctor, and a sailor. Our friends enjoyed every bit of it. The objective for implementing Career Day is introducing the children to many professions and community helpers. On this day, the parents came in and discussed what they did for a living. The kids were able to get a glimpse of careers that they may have never heard before and were very excited. The goal of Career Day was for the children to be able to recognize and understand the importance of what it means to be a community helper.

Welcome to the Preschool Hospital

The children acted as both doctors and patients as we turned our classroom into a hospital! Through dramatic play such as this, children develop and learn important social, language, motor, and creative thinking skills. The objective of this activity was for the kids to learn how to take turns, have an opportunity to exercise manners, and learn how to communicate and interact effectively with one another. The goal is for  them to be able apply these skills gained through dramatic play to the real world -- the classroom, the home, in public settings and later, in the work world.

POLICE SONGS Nov 11-15, 2013

SONGS FOR NEXT WEEK: November 11-15, 2013

I AM A POLICE OFFICER
(Tune: I'm a Little Teapot)

I am a police officer with my star,
I help people near and far,
If you have a problem call on me,
And I will be there 1, 2, 3!

Irk! Stopped the Speeder
(Tune: Pop! goes the Weasel!)
All around the busy town.
The police officer chased the speeder.
The siren sounded "woo, woo, woo."
And IRK! (brake sound), stopped the speeder.

Traffic Cop Song
(Tune: Do Your Ears Hang Low)
Do you drive a car
With a flashing light on top?
When you hold up your hand,
Does the traffic have to stop?
Do you blow a whistle loud,
Standing straight and tall and proud?
You're our friend, the traffic cop!
