Math - Sorting
Building a complex mathematical foundation begins in the
early childhood years. Classifying and
sorting objects are the major part of the foundation. These important skills help children to begin
to observe how things are alike and different, an awareness that is essential
to early math learning.
Sorting can take months to master. We plan activities which give children the
opportunity to sort, classify, and order objects by color, size, shape, and a
variety of other attributes. It is
important that children have plenty of practice developing this skill.
